Les Précieuses ridicules in the first part of 18th century : from belles infidèles to Polish adaptation

The article deals with translations of three plays: Komedia Paryska, anonymously written at the end of 17th century, Wytworne i śmieszne dziwaczki by Franciszka Radziwiłłowa and Kawalerowie modni by Franciszek Bohomolec. All the three translations were created prior to foundation of Warsaw Teatr Narodowy (1765). The author analyzes the adopted translation strategies and concludes that in the first two versions modifications of the original text are of esthetic nature (belles infidèles), while in the third version Molier's work reflects satirically on the contemporary issues of Warsaw of the middle 18th century.
