Space design of library buildings. Project of adaptation the library to the needs of parents with young children on the example of branches of the Krowoderska Public Library in Cracow

Przedmiotem pracy jest architektura filii bibliotek przystosowanych do potrzeb małych dzieci. Celem jest omówienie głównych zasad urządzania pomieszczeń bibliotecznych oraz uzasadnienie ich wagi i znaczenia dla działalności instytucji. W pracy przedstawiono autorski projekt oddziału dla dzieci, opracowany na przykładzie filii Krowoderskiej Biblioteki Publicznej w Krakowie. W ramach badań przeanalizowano literaturę bibliotekoznawczą pod kątem historycznych oraz współczesnych trendów i rozwiązań architektonicznych, stosowanych w bibliotekach publicznych. Podkreślono dużą rolę tych instytucji w prawidłowym rozwoju, wychowaniu i edukacji najmłodszych. Zwrócono uwagę na ich profil, zakładający uniwersalność, powszechność i dostępność dla wszystkich grup użytkowników. W rezultacie wykazano znaczny wpływ wyglądu bibliotek na ich postrzeganie przez społeczeństwo oraz wyeksponowano funkcjonalność i bezpieczeństwo jako kluczowe czynniki, determinujące projektowanie wnętrz bibliotecznych przeznaczonych dla dzieci.

The subject of the thesis is the architecture of branch libraries adapted for toddlers. The purpose is to discuss the main principles of arranging library premises as well as justify their importance and significance for the institution. There was described a project of a agency for children, developed on the example of branches of the Krowoderska Public Library in Cracow. The study analyzed the literature for historical and modern trends and architectural solutions used in public libraries. There was underlined the great role of these institutions in children's upbringing and education. Their profile was highlighted, which implies universality, generality and availability for every group of clients. There was shown in the conclusions, that the appearance of libraries significantly affects their perception by the public and that functionality and safety are the most important factors determining the interior design of children's libraries.
