The role of mother in the contemporary South Korean society

W niniejszej pracy opisana jest sytuacja matek w Korei Południowej. Obecnie kobiety, które decydują się urodzić i wychować dziecko, robią to często pod naporem rodziny oraz całego społeczeństwa, które wciąż mocno związane jest z doktryną konfucjańską. W pierwszym rozdziale pracy ukazany jest wizerunek matki w najbliższej historii. Przedstawione są wpływy neokonfucjanizmu na rolę matek oraz oddziaływanie innych krajów t.j. Japonii i Stanów Zjednoczonych. W drugim rozdziale mowa jest o presji społeczeństwa na założenie rodziny, problemie podjęcia pracy czy też wpływie ruchów feministycznych na zmianę roli matki w rodzinie. W rozdziale trzecim ukazane są problemy jakie mogą spotkać matki. W tym rozdziale mowa jest również o tym, jak wygląda sytuacja adopcji zarówno tych krajowych, jak i zagranicznych. Poruszony jest również problem matek z dziećmi niepełnosprawnymi oraz tych samotnych.

This work describes the situation of mothers in South Korea. Currently, women who decide to give birth and raise a child, often do so under the pressure of the family and the whole society, which is still strongly associated with the Confucian doctrine. In the first chapter the image of the mother in the upcoming history is shown. The influence of Neo-Confucianism on the role of mothers and the influence of other countries, namely Japan and the United States, are presented. The second chapter talks about the pressure of society on starting a family, the problem of undertaking a job or the impact of feminist movements on changing the role of a mother in a family. The third chapter shows the problems that may be encountered by the mother. This chapter also talks about the situation of adoptions of both domestic and foreign. The problem of mothers with disabled children and single mothers is also discussed.
