Ethical and legal aspects of euthanasia

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie zarówno etycznych jak i prawnych aspektów aktu eutanazji. Praca zwraca uwagę na rozległość problematyki związanej z ewentualną legalizacją opisywanego zjawiska. Jej pierwsza część zawiera definicję oraz ogólne informacje na temat eutanazji. W kolejnych rozdziałach poruszono problematykę etyczną, społeczną i prawną. Kluczową część pracy stanowi przedstawienie sporu oraz argumentów prezentowanych zarówno przez zwolenników jak i przeciwników opisywanego aktu. Tematyka pracy budzi wiele kontrowersji i sprzecznych opinii, a ze względu na różnorodność poddanych rozważaniu aspektów nie jest możliwe zajęcie obiektywnego stanowiska w sprawie.

The aim of this thesis is to present both ethical and legal aspects of the act of euthanasia. The paper focuses on problems related with eventual legalization of this procedure. The first part include the definition and basic information about euthanasia. In consecutive chapters the ethical, social and legal problems are discussed. A key part of the paper is to present the dispute and the arguments presented by both supporters and opponents of the act described. Topics of work raises a lot of controversy, conflicting opinions and emotional reactions in different parts of society. It isn’t easy and seems to be even impossible to assume the ultimate attitude in this problem.
