Polish terminology of information-retrieval languages in the age of globalisation

The article's aim is to present current situation of the Polish terminology of information-retrieval languages in regard to global access to science information, and domination of English language. Globalisation reveals in either assimilation of English-language terms, or slackening of terminological system, and developing of so-called "internationalisms". These aspects make a premise for improving quality of international science communication based on multilingual terminology. Effectiveness of such a communication depends mostly on the quality of terminological resources of different disciplines and languages. It seems to be indispensable to use modern technologies for improving development and transfer of electronic terminological information, as well as change into a new, network paradigm. The analysis done revealed complexity of linguistic problems of science terminology of information-retrieval languages, in the aspect of joining modern lexical science with information science, linguistics, and social communication.
