Niniejsza praca licencjacka traktuje o zjawisku anglicyzmów w języku francuskim. Jej celem jest próba zdefiniowania terminu, analiza typów anglicyzmów i ich funkcjonowania w języku, jak również refleksja nad ich genezą i wpływem na język francuski. Zważywszy na obecność zapożyczeń z języka angielskiego w codziennych rozmowach Francuzów i francuskiej przestrzeni publicznej, ważne jest, aby postrzegać je nie tylko jako ciekawostkę językową, ale również element społeczno-językowy, czerpiący z bogactwa języka angielskiego i jego silnej pozycji we współczesnym świecie. Coraz częściej francuscy językoznawcy poruszają kwestię zalet i wad wpływu anglicyzmów na język francuski, widząc pewne korzyści dla ich języka ojczystego, ale również zagrożenia dla francuskiej leksyki i składni. Omawiając zjawisko anglicyzmu, warto również wspomnieć o pojęciu tzw. franglais, czyli mieszanki języka francuskiego i angielskiego, które zostało rozwinięte i opracowane przez francuskiego językoznawcę René Étiemble’a w dziele zatytułowanym Parlez-vous franglais? (1964). Autor odnosi się w nim również do zjawiska tzw. sabiru atlantyckiego, rozprzestrzeniającego się coraz bardziej w społeczeństwie francuskojęzycznym, co według Étiemble’a może mieć poważne konsekwencje dla języka francuskiego. Ostatnia część pracy licencjackiej dotyczy opinii francuskich językoznawców na temat anglicyzmów, które w większości nie są entuzjastyczne i pokazują sceptyczne, a nawet niechętne nastawienie ze strony purystów językowych. W swoich licznych opracowaniach ostrzegają oni o niebezpieczeństwie, które niesie ze sobą rozległy wpływ języka angielskiego na francuski, czego Francuzi nie powinni lekceważyć. Konkluzja odnosi się do poszczególnych części pracy i jeszcze raz przedstawia wielką złożoność zjawiska anglicyzmów w języku francuskim zarówno z jego korzyściami jak i pewnymi zagrożeniami dla języka, których nie można banalizować.

This thesis deals with the phenomenon of anglicisms in the French language. Its objective is to present the term from different points of view, to analyze the types of anglicisms and their functions in the language, as well as to reflect on their genesis and influence on the French language. Regarding the presence of English borrowings in everyday conversations of the French language users, it is important to perceive them not only as a linguistic particularity, but also as a socio-linguistic element that can benefit from the richness of the English language and its strong position in the contemporary world. The issue of the advantages and disadvantages of the influence of anglicisms on the French language is more and more often raised by several French linguists. Despite some benefits for their mother tongue that the process of borrowing from English can offer, they notice a number of threats for the language which loses its lexical and morphological diversity. Speaking of the phenomenon of anglicism, it is necessary to present also the notion of franglais, developed by a French linguist Rene Étiemble who described this specific language – a mixture of the French and English language – in his book Parlez-vous franglais ? (1964). It also refers to the so-called Atlantic sabir which, according to the author, spreads into French society with dangerous consequences for the French language. The last part of the thesis concerns different opinions of French linguists whose the large part is not enthusiastic and shows a skeptical or even unfavorable attitude on the part of linguistic purists. In their various studies they alert to the danger that the influence of English on the French language brings, and which the French should not neglect. The conclusion refers to the particular parts of the thesis and once again it presents the great complexity of the anglicism phenomenon in the French language with all its opportunities but without forgetting certain threats that must not be trivialized.

Ce mémoire de licence traite du phénomène des anglicismes dans la langue française. Son objectif est de présenter le terme de différents points de vue, analyser les types des anglicismes et leur fonctionnement dans la langue aussi bien que réfléchir sur leur genèse et influence sur la langue française. Étant donné la présence des emprunts à l’anglais dans le langage quotidien des Français, il est important de les percevoir, non seulement comme une particularité linguistique, mais aussi comme un élément socio-linguistique qui puise dans la richesse de la langue anglaise et de sa forte position dans le monde contemporain. La question des avantages et des inconvénients de l’influence des anglicismes sur la langue française est de plus en plus souvent abordée par plusieurs linguistes français. Malgré certains bénéfices pour leur langue maternelle que le processus d’emprunter à l’anglais peut offrir, ils remarquent nombre de menaces pour le français qui perd sa diversité lexicale et morphologique. En parlant du phénomène de l’anglicisme, il est nécessaire de présenter aussi la notion du franglais, développée par un linguiste français René Étiemble qui a décrit ce langage spécifique – un mélange de la langue française et anglaise – dans son ouvrage Parlez-vous franglais ? (1964). Il y est question aussi du soi-disant sabir atlantique qui, selon l’auteur, se répand dans la société francophone avec des conséquences dangereuses pour la langue française. La dernière partie du mémoire concerne différentes opinions des linguistes francophones qui, en majorité, ne sont pas enthousiastes et montrent une attitude sceptique ou même défavorable de la part des puristes linguistiques. Dans leurs diverses études ils donnent l’alerte face au danger qu’apporte l’influence de l’anglais sur la langue française ce que les Français ne devraient pas négliger. La conclusion se réfère aux parties particulières du mémoire et elle présente encore une fois une grande complexité du phénomène des anglicismes dans la langue française avec toutes ses opportunités mais sans oublier certaines menaces qu’il ne faut pas banaliser.
