The activity of private military companies as an instrument for ensuring security in Africa

Niniejsza praca magisterska skupia się na działalności wojskowych firm kontraktorskich i ich wpływie na funkcjonowanie państw afrykańskich. Celem pracy autora jest przeanalizowanie obecności prywatnych firm wojskowych w wybranych państw afrykańskich i znalezienie odpowiedzi czy najemnicy są gwarantem bezpieczeństwa lub może przyczyniają się do destabilizacji państwa. Pierwszy rozdział pracy opisuje genezę najemnictwa z wyróżnieniem terenów działalności najemników i ich pochodzenia. Rozdział drugi omawia obecność najemników w wybranych państwach afrykańskich podczas procesu dekolonizacji. Rozdział trzeci pracy magisterskiej przedstawia szczegóły funkcjonowania prywatnych firm wojskowych oraz ich wpływ na obecną sytuację afrykańskich państw. Autor w tym rozdziale stara się odpowiedzieć jakie szanse i zagrożenia wiążą się z użyciem prywatnych firm wojskowych.

This master's thesis focuses on the activities of military contracting companies and their impact on the functioning of African countries. The aim of the author's work is to analyze the presence of private military companies in selected African countries and to find out whether mercenaries are a guarantor of security or maybe contribute to the destabilization of the state. The first chapter of the work describes the genesis of mercenary activity, distinguishing the areas of mercenary activity and their origin. The second chapter discusses the presence of mercenaries in selected African countries during the decolonization process. The third chapter of the master's thesis presents the details of the functioning of private military companies and their impact on the current situation of African countries. In this chapter, the author tries to answer what opportunities and threats are associated with the use of private military companies.
