Europa Zachodnia charakteryzuje się coraz większą sekularyzacją. Państwem, które ma jeden z największych odsetków ludności nienależących do Kościoła jest Holandia. Proces ten zaczął nabierać na sile w latach sześćdziesiątych i trwa do tej pory. Przyczyn takiego stanu jest wiele. Taka sytuacja prowadzi do niszczenia, zamykania i zmiany przeznaczenia budowli sakralnych. Świątynie mogą być adaptowane na budynki mieszkalne, obiekty kulturalne czy inne świątynie.
Western Europe is characterised by bigger and bigger secularization. The Netherlands is country with one of the biggest amount of unchurched people. This situation started in he sixties and is still happening. There are many reasons of this state. This situation leads to destroying, closing or changing destinations of churches. They can be adapt to apartments, cultural places or other temples.
