Celem tej pracy licencjackiej jest interpretacja dwunastowiecznej powieści Floire and Blanchefleur autorstwa Roberta d’Orbigny z perspektywy badań kobiecych i genderowych literatury średniowiecza. Rozdział pierwszy przedstawia wybrane zagadnienia teoretyczne związane z reprezentacją płci kulturowej w średniowiecznych tekstach oraz omawia konwencję roman idyllique. Rozdział drugi prezentuje kluczowe aspekty portretów kobiet w powieści. Rozdział trzeci analizuje elementy fabuły wykraczające poza konwencjonalne wyobrażenia na temat średniowiecznych kobiecości i męskości. Przeprowadzona analiza dowodzi, że utwór ukazuje różnorodne wzorce kobiecości, ilustrując zarazem potencjał gatunku idyllicznego do przedstawiania tematów związanych z kategorią płci kulturowej.

The objective of this bachelor’s thesis is to offer an interpretation of the twelfth-century romance Floire and Blanchefleur by Robert d’Orbigny from the point of view of women’s and gender studies of medieval literature. The first chapter presents selected theoretical approaches to the representation of the sexes in medieval literature before discussing the convention of idyllic romance. The second chapter proposes an interpretation of the main aspects of medieval femininities depicted in the text. The third chapter analyses the elements of the narrative that can be read as a subversion of conventional modes of representation of the genders. The conducted analysis demonstrates that the poem presents a variety of ideas surrounding medieval femininities, illustrating the great potential of the idyllic genre to discuss gender-related themes.

L’objectif de ce mémoire de licence est de proposer une interprétation de Floire et Blanchefleur, le roman du XIIe siècle de Robert d’Orbigny, du point de vue des études des femmes et des études de genre de la littérature médiévale. Le premier chapitre présente une sélection d’approches théoriques de la représentation des sexes dans la littérature médiévale avant d’aborder la convention du roman idyllique. Le second chapitre propose une interprétation des principaux aspects de la féminité médiévale dépeints dans le texte ainsi. Le troisième chapitre aborde les éléments du récit qui peuvent être lus comme une subversion des modes conventionnels de représentation des féminités et masculinités médiévales. L’analyse permet de démontrer que le récit présente une variété d’idées sur les féminités médiévales, illustrant le grand potentiel du genre idyllique dans le développement des thèmes liés au genre.
