Motyw konia pojawia się w licznych tekstach klasycznej literatury arabskiej. Podstawą mojej pracy są dzieła: Nihāyat al-arab fī funūn al-adab Al-Nuwayrīego, kasydy autorstwa Imru’ al-Qaysa, Zuhayra ibn Abī Sulmy i ʿAntary ibn Šaddāda, Koran i hadisy oraz Kitāb al-Iʿtibār Usāmy ibn Munqiḏa.Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich zawiera informacje dotyczące literatury adabowej i encyklopedii w świecie arabskim. Przedstawia także sylwetkę Al-Nuwayrīego oraz jego tekst Nihāyat al-arab fī funūn al-adab, którego fragment przetłumaczyłam. Drugi porusza temat koni i ich hodowli w kulturze arabskiej. Trzeci rozdział prezentuje wizerunek konia w ww. dziełach oraz zawiera informacje o samych tekstach i ich autorach.

The theme of horse appears in many texts of classical Arabic literature. The base of my thesis are writings: Nihāyat al-arab fī funūn al-adab by Al-Nuwayrī, qasidas by Imru’ al-Qays, Zuhayr ibn Abī Sulma and ʿAntarā ibn Šaddād, Quran and hadiths and Kitāb al-Iʿtibār by Usāma ibn Munqiḏ.My paper consists of three chapters. The first contains informations about adab literature and encyclopaedias in the Arab world. It portrays also Al-Nuwayrī and his text Nihāyat al-arab fī funūn al-adab which I fragmentarily translated. The second one covers the subject of horses and horse breeding in Arab culture. The third chapter presents the image of horse in above-mentioned works and contains details about these works and authors.
