Extrémne meteorologické a hydrologické udalosti v Podbabohorskej oblasti a v regióne Živca v období od 16. storočia do prvého desaťročia 21. storočia

Extreme meteorological and hydrological phenomena that occurred in the area of Babia Góra and the region of Żywiec during the period from the 16th century to the first decade of the 21st century

W niniejszym opracowaniu omówiono ekstremalne zdarzenia meteorologiczne i hydrologiczne, jakie wystąpiły na Podbabiogórzu i Żywiecczyźnie w okresie od XVI w. do 1. dekady XXI w. Dokonano charakterystyki tych zdarzeń oraz oceniono ich czasowe zróżnicowanie. Zwrócono również uwagę na wyrządzone przez nie straty materialne oraz na ich oddziaływanie na ówczesnych mieszkańców tych ziem. W opracowaniu przedstawiono takie zjawiska ekstremalne, jak: gradobicia, wichury, powodzie, susze, długie i mroźne oraz ciepłe zimy. W celu zobrazowania rozmiarów ówczesnych zdarzeń dokonano przeliczenia miar staropolskich na miary obecnie używane.

This study discusses extreme meteorological and hydrological phenomena that occurred in the area of Babia Góra and the region of Żywiec during the period from the 16th century to the first decade of the 21st century. It presents a characterization of these events and an assessment of their diversity through time. The author also noticed material losses caused by such occurrences and their impact on residents of these lands. The study presents such extreme phenomena as hailstorms, gales, floods, droughts, long and frosty winters, as well as warm winters. For the purpose of depicting the scale of events of that time, measures of the Old Poland were converted into measures currently in use.
