Celem niniejszej pracy była charakterystyka zjawiska homoseksualizmu w Indiach. Praca została podzielona na trzy rozdziały. Pierwszy rozdział skupia się na analizie sytuacji politycznej wokół homoseksualizmu. W tej części przedstawione zostają kwestie takie jak perspektywa Manusmriti i Arthaśastry, wpływ kolonializmu, paragraf 377 i legalizacja homoseksualizmu. Drugi rozdział stanowi analiza społeczna zjawiska homoseksualizmu. Omówieniu zostały poddane problemy zdrowotne, psychospołeczne, kulturowe i religijne. Trzeci rozdział jest próbą wyjaśnienia relacji między zjawiskiem hidźra a homoseksualizmem. Porusza kwestię poczucia tożsamości i orientacji płciowej członków hidźra, a także przedstawia ich na tle społeczeństwa indyjskiego.
The purpose of this thesis was to characterize the phenomenon of homosexuality in India. The thesis was divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on the analysis of the political situation around homosexuality. This part presents issues such as the perspective of Manusmriti and Arthashastra, the influence of colonialism, paragraph 377 and the legalization of homosexuality. The second chapter is the social analysis of homosexuality. Health, psychosocial, cultural and religious problems were discussed. The third chapter is an attempt to explain the relationship between the hijra and homosexuality. It raises the issue of the identity and sexual orientation of hijra’s members, and presents them against the background of Indian society.
