Yugoslavia in the policy of the United States of America between 1945 and 1953

Celem rozprawy jest przedstawienie stosunków między Federacyjną Ludową Republiką Jugosławii a Stanami Zjednoczonymi Ameryki w latach 1945-1953, a także innych wydarzeń, które wpływały na te relacje. W pracy opisane zostały kontakty dyplomatyczne między obydwoma krajami w pierwszych latach zimnej wojny, celem pokazania zmiany nastawienia amerykańskich polityków do komunistycznej Jugosławii. Przełomowym momentem jest rok 1948 i wyrzucenie Jugosławii z Kominformu w wyniku konfliktu Josipa Broza Tity i Józefa Stalina. Praca składa się ze wstępu, 4 rozdziałów, zakończenia oraz bibliografii. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawione zostały losy Jugosławii w czasie drugiej wojny światowej oraz proces przejmowania władzy przez komunistów. Rozdział drugi opisuje sytuację Jugosławii na arenie międzynarodowej w latach 1945-1948. Ważną częścią tego rozdziału jest spór graniczny o Triest między Jugosławią a Włochami. Rozdział trzeci skupia się na drodze do konfliktu między Titą a Stalinem, a także na reakcji Jugosławii na ten rozłam. W rozdziale czwartym zaprezentowana została współpraca gospodarcza i wojskowa między Jugosławią a USA oraz jugosłowiańska droga do sojuszu z Grecją oraz Turcją. Rozprawę zamyka opisanie drogi do rozwiązania konfliktu o Triest.

The purpose of this dissertation is to present the relations between the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia and the United States of America between 1945 and 1953, as well as other events that influenced those relations. The paper describes diplomatic relations between the two countries during the first years of the Cold War, with the aim of showing the change of attitude of American politicians towards communist Yugoslavia. The turning point was 1948 and the expulsion of Yugoslavia from the Cominform as a result of the conflict between Josip Broz Tito and Joseph Stalin. The work consists of an introduction, 4 chapters, a conclusion and a bibliography. The first chapter presents the fate of Yugoslavia during the Second World War and the process of communist seizure of power. The second chapter describes the situation of Yugoslavia in the international arena between 1945 and 1948. An important part of this chapter is the border dispute over Trieste between Yugoslavia and Italy. Chapter three focuses on the road to the conflict between Tito and Stalin, as well as the reaction of Yugoslavia to that split. The fourth chapter presents the economic and military cooperation between Yugoslavia and the United States and the Yugoslav road to an alliance with Greece and Turkey. The trial closes with a description of the way to the settlement of the Trieste conflict.
