Ethical issues in healthcare management

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest problem występowania etycznych problemów w zarządzaniu ochroną zdrowia. Założeniem było zidentyfikowanie występujących w placówkach zdrowotnych problemów oraz doszukanie się ich źródeł i możliwych opcji ich rozwiązywania. Literatura bowiem niewiele mówi na ten temat, skupiając się na kwestiach leczenia efektywnie oraz etycznie pod względem relacji lekarza z pacjentem. Fakt, że zapomina się o tym, iż pracownicy ochrony zdrowia czynią ją efektywną - zwłaszcza w sytuacji ciągłego redukowania wydatków - sprawił, że podjęcie tych badań wydawało się bardzo istotne. Aby zrealizować założenia pracy postanowiono przeprowadzić badanie porównawcze w dwóch jednostkach – prywatnej i publicznej – aby sprawdzić czy istnieją różnice między problemami, które się w nich pojawiają. Porównywano wyniki ankiet przeprowadzanych wśród personelu oraz wywiadów jakościowych, które przeprowadzono z osobami odpowiedzialnymi za zarządzanie tymi jednostkami. Badania wykazały najczęstsze problemy występujące w badanych szpitalach i okazało się, że dotyczą one głównie sfery finansowej oraz etycznego postępowania z pracownikami jednostki. Pokazały również jak istotne z punktu widzenia samych zarządzających jest aby nagłaśniać temat moralnego kierowania organizacjami w systemie zdrowotnym.

The subject of this thesis is the problem of the prevalence of ethical issues in health management. The premise was to identify the common health care issues, find their sources and possible options of solving them. Indeed, the literature says little on the subject, is rather focused on issues of treatment effectively, and ethically in terms of the relationship between the doctor and the patient. The fact that we forget that healthcare workers make whole system effective, especially in a situation of continuous reduction of expenditure was the reason to write this thesis. to realize the assumption of thesis, it was decided to carry out a comparative study of two units – private and public – to check whether there are differences between the problems that appear in them. Compared the results of surveys carried out among staff, and qualitative interviews, which were conducted with the persons responsible for the management of those organisations. Studies have shown that the most common issues that occur in the hospitals which were surveyed are mainly concerned on the financial sphere, and the ethical behaviour in relation of the employees. It also has showed how important from the point of view of managers is to highlight about the moral management in organizations of healthcare system.
