Przedmiotem zainteresowania pracy są różne funkcje i typy pamięci pojawiające się w serii „Cmentarz Zapomnianych Książek” Carlosa Ruiza Zafóna. Poruszone zostaną trzy wątki. Pierwszy będzie dotyczył relacji między pamięcią a literaturą. W jaki sposób autor wykorzystuję tę powiązanie, aby przedstawić pisarzy i ich proces tworzenia oraz dążenie do nieśmiertelności. Drugi omawia wątki miejsc pamięci. Jak miejsca rzeczywiste oraz fikcyjne pojawiające się na mapie zafónowskiej Barcelony oddziałują na pamięć czytelników. Trzeci skupia się na związku pamięci autobiograficznej z tożsamością człowieka. Jak wspomnienia oraz ich brak wpływają na funkcjonowanie jednostki w świecie. Całość rozważań osadzona została w ramach teoretycznych, które umożliwiają przedstawienie różnych koncepcji pamięcioznawczych pojawiających się w całej serii.

The objectects of my interest in theessey are various functions and types of memory appearing in Carlos Ruiz Zafón's "Cemetery of Forgotten Books" series. Three themes will be discussed. The first will deal with the connection between memory and literature and how the author uses it to portray writers and their creative process and quest for immortality. The second one discusses the themes of memory places. How the real and fictional places appearing on the Zafón's map of Barcelona interact with readers' memory. The third focuses on the relationship between autobiographical memory and human identity. How memories and the lack of them affect an individual's functioning in the world. All of the considerations are set in a theoretical framework that makes it possible to present the various concepts of memory studies that appear throughout the whole series.
