"Myśli o wychowaniu kobiet" by Eleonora Ziemięcka (1819-1869). A forgotten episode in the history of polish psychological thought

Eleonora Ziemięcka to jedna z najważniejszych osób, które przyczyniły się do reform wykształcenia kobiet w Polsce. Praca ma na celu przypomnienie tej postaci oraz programu edukacyjnego kobiet zaproponowanego w opublikowanych w 1843 roku „Myślach o wychowaniu kobiet”. W pierwszej części pracy został opisany życiorys i poglądy filozoficzne Eleonory Ziemięckiej. Następnie została przedstawiona sytuacja polskich kobiet w połowie XIX wieku oraz poglądy autorki na ich naturę psychologiczną. Głowna część pracy to szczegółowy opis programu wychowania i edukacji kobiet ze zwróceniem uwagi na najważniejsze wartości w ich życiu oraz rolę poszczególnych nauk w procesie kształcenia. W ostatniej części znalazły się uwagi związane z programem oraz podsumowanie.

Eleonora Ziemięcka is one of the most important persons who contributed to the reforms of women’s education in Poland. The goal of this thesis is to remind about her and her educational programme presented in “Myśli o wychowaniu kobiet” in 1843. The first part of the thesis focuses on Ziemięcka’s life and philosophical views. Next part describes women’s situation in the 19th century and summarises her beliefs about women’s psychology. The fundamental part of this thesis is the detailed description of the educational programme with special attention paid to the most important values and the role of specific subjects in education. The last part includes critical remarks about the programme and a brief conclusion.
