Customs and religiousness of Cossack`s society in the eyes of foreigners in the end of 16th and the first half of the 17th century.

Przedmiotem mojej pracy jest sfera obyczajowości i religijności społeczeństwa kozackiego. W pierwszym rozdziale poruszyłem kilka zagadnień dotyczących procesu tworzenia się tej grupy społecznej, a ponadto przedstawiłem kilka teorii na temat etymologii słowa „kozak”. Odniosłem się także do warunków naturalnych Zaporoża i Ukrainy. W drugim rozdziale przedstawiłem zwyczaje dotyczące różnych aspektów życia takich jak zawieranie małżeństwa i inne, odnoszące się do relacji interpersonalnych, a także uwidoczniłem zwyczaje dotyczące życia społecznego. Poruszyłem także tematy ubioru, rodzajów potraw i stosunku społeczeństwa kozackiego do alkoholu. W trzecim rozdziale zaprezentowałem dwie koncepcje dotyczące religijności Kozaków, ukazałem ponadto jak różne aspekty religijności kozackiej były spostrzegane przez cudzoziemców.

The subject of my paper is the sphere of religion and customs of the Cossacks society. In chapter one I broached a few issues regarding the process of forming of this social group and also portrayed a few theories on the etymology of the word „Cossack”. I also related to natural conditions of Ukraine and Zaporizhia. In the second chapter I depicted customs of everyday life such as marriages and other interpersonal relationships. Moreover, I set forth traditions of social life. I wrote about their clothing, dishes and relation to alcohol. In the third chapter I presented two concepts on Cossacks religiousness, and how those aspects were seen by foreigners.
