10 kwietnia 2010 r. polski prezydent Lech Kaczyński zginął w katastrofie lotniczej, przewodnicząc polskiej delegacji upamiętniającej 70. rocznicę masakry katyńskiej. Wydarzenie to było postrzegane jako narodowa tragedia. Po katastrofie pojawiły się kontrowersje, czy prezydent powinien zostać pochowany w katedrze na Wawelu, gdzie spoczywają polscy królowie i bohaterowie narodowi. Poprzez ten szczególny przypadek będziemy badać jak kreowani są bohaterowie, jakie są ich atrybuty i jak są oni wykorzystywani w polityce.

On April 10th 2010, the polish president Lech Kaczynski died in a plane crash while leading a delegation to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacres. This event was perceived as a national tragedy. Following the crash, a controversy arose, regarding whether or not the president should be buried in the Wawel Cathedral, where Polish kings and national heroes also lay at rest. Throughout this peculiar case, it will be studied how heroes are created, what are their attributes and how they are used politically.

Le 10 avril 2010 la mort du Président polonais, Lech Kaczynski à la suite du crash de son avion, se rendant aux commémorations des 70 ans des massacres de Katyn a été vécu comme une tragédie nationale. L'organisation des funérailles a crée une controverse du fait de la volonté d'enterrement dans la cathédrale de Wawel, lieu symbolique de sépulture des rois et héros polonais. A pair de l'étude de ce cas concret, il sera question d'observer selon quels processus se façonnent les héros nationaux, quels sont leurs attributs et comment ils sont utilisés politiquement.
