Multilingual, intercultural and integrative education from the perspective of current European language policy

Modern European language policy is shaped on the level of intergovernmental cooperation by the Council of Europe (CoE), the European Union (EU) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). These organizations attach great importance to developing the rules of modern language education, taking into consideration current reality and the dynamics of changes. Language diversity of the modern Europe is great - especially if one takes into consideration not only the native languages of its inhabitants, but also of the newcomers constantly flocking from other continents. This fact is of crucial importance for the development of the European educational policy, especially within the scope of language learning. From this perspective multilingual, multicultural and integrative education seems to be a reasonable educational approach on all levels of organized education - from kindergartens to universities.
