The portrait of Poland and it’s inhabitants in the postwar period in the first season of the television series Dom.

Tematem mojej pracy magisterskiej uczyniłam serial Dom, a konkretnie jego pierwszą serię. W części teoretycznej przedstawiłam genealogię kategorii seryjności na gruncie polskim i światowym, a także omówiłam gatunek serialu. Ponadto, scharakteryzowałam Telewizję Polską od momentu jej narodzin do końca lat 70. XX w., dodatkowo uwzględniając jej wpływ na widzów. Następnie przybliżyłam historię powstania serialu Dom oraz jego liczne recenzje. W części analitycznej opisałam kreowaną przez twórców rzeczywistość historyczno-polityczną oraz społeczno-gospodarczą, a także postawy lansowane przez głównych bohaterów serialu, biorąc pod uwagę konsekwencje, jakie mogą płynąć z pokazywania owych treści.

The thesis in question is to examine the portrait of Poland and it’s inhabitants in the postwar period in the first season of the television series Dom. On the theoretical level of the study the main objective is to present the origin and development of the television series as a genre. Moreover, this part of the paper is enriched with the brief history of the polish television and its influence over the viewers. It also includes a take on series Dom and it’s critical reception. The following part of the thesis provides the analytical insight into historical, political, social and economic realities presented by the authors of the discussed series, as well as the model of attitude of it’s leading characters. What is more, the thoughts given on a subject emphasize the consequences of presenting such contents.
