Cytomegalovirus infection in pregnancy

Tematem tej pracy licencjackiej jest przedstawienie problemu zakażenia wirusem cytomegalii wśród kobiet w ciąży. Poprzez przybliżenie charakterystyki wirusa CMV należącego do rodziny Herpesviridae, oraz statystyk dotyczących zachorowań na chorobę cytomegaliową zarówno wśród ciężarnych jak i noworodków oraz dzieci pragnę pokazać, iż wirus ten niesie duże niebezpieczeństwo powikłań neurologicznych oraz anatomicznych. Jest to więc temat ważny i warty rozpowszechniania wśród społeczeństwa, aby zwiększyć świadomość sposobów zakażenia, pokazać sposoby leczenia oraz, przedstawić metody diagnostyczne pozwalające wykryć chorobę, co jest szczególnie ważne u kobiet ciężarnych i planujących ciążę. Praca ta traktuje także na temat aspektów dotyczących profilaktyki oraz co istotne, roli opracowania skutecznej szczepionki, która mogłaby chronić przed infekcją wirusem CMV.

The theme of this document is to present the problem of cytomegalovirus infection among pregnant women. By bringing the characteristics of CMV belonging to the family Herpesviridae and statistics on the incidence of disease among pregnant women, infants and children is to show that this virus carries a high risk of neurological and anatomical complications. It is therefore an important topic and worth disseminating to the public to increase awareness of the ways of infection and show ways to treat and, to provide diagnostic methods to detect the disease, which is especially important in pregnant and planning to become pregnant. This work treats also on aspects of prevention and importantly, the role of developing an effective vaccine that could protect against infection with CMV.
