Doświadczenie społecznego wykluczenia przejawia się w ich tekstach literackich. Within a coparative analysis, the author interpretates Oscar Wilde's and Marquise de Sade's last years. The main factor connecting these two biographies is imprisonment. The author focuses on Wilde's two-year stay in Reading prison and many Sade's commitals since 1784. The experience of social exclusion is manifested in their literary texts. Wilde's atobiographical letter De Profundis and poem The Ballad of Reading Gaol and Sade's The 120 Days of Sodom and Philosophy in the Boudoir are the basics of the analysis. Referring to the wills and the memories of witnesses Sade's and Wilde's death, this analysis makes it possible to follow the history of their real bodies and the process of conferring them to the cultural meaning. This literature-specialist and anthropological thesis - according to Kristeva's theory - shows the way in which categories such as melancholy, loss or jouissance assign in the discourse about the work and lives of these two writers. However, both stories are made up of many understatements, myths or rumors and their result is not a real human being: it created a personage that can only operates as a literary character. Gromek argues that the description of one's life is just another literary work, which only gives new meanings and contexts of real past events.
