Modernistic cities in Poland in the interwar period. Problems of protecting their original structure. Form, function, ideology.

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie, na przykładzie Stalowej Woli oraz Gdyni, rozwoju miast w okresie modernizmu w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym w Polsce. Pierwsza część pracy opisuje historię obu miast, które powstawały w tamtym okresie "od zera", a ich rozwój był bardzo silnie związany z propagandą polityczną. Druga część odnosi się do konserwacji architektury najnowszej, która wciąż nie jest wystarczająca rozwinięta, przez co występują liczne problemy z ochroną pierwotnej struktury miast powstałych w okresie modernizmu. Pracę uzupełniają rozdziały dotyczące ogólnej myśli modernistycznej w architekturze oraz ilustracje.

The main aim of the thesis is to present, on the example of Stalowa Wola and Gdynia, development of cities in the period of modernism in the interwar in Poland. The first part of thesis describes the history of both cities, that were built at the time "from scratch", and their development has been strongly connected with political propaganda. The second part relates to the conservation of modern architecture, which is still inadequately developed, whereby there are many problems with the protection of modernistic cities and their original structure. The thesis includes the chapters about the general ideas of modernistic architecture and illustrations.
