Formy adresatywne jako wyznaczniki relacji międzyludzkich: analiza wybranych dialogów w powieści „Duma i uprzedzenie" oraz jej filmowej adaptacji z 2005 roku

Formy adresatywne od dawna uznawane są za narzędzia kształtujące relacje międzyludzkie i demonstrujące dynamikę między ludźmi. Osadzone w epoce angielskiej regencji na początku XIX wieku "Duma i uprzedzenie" i jej filmowa adaptacja z 2005 roku stanowią interesujący obszar do zbadania, w jaki sposób formy adresatywne przyczyniają się do przedstawiania postaci i różnic między klasami społecznymi. Celem niniejszej rozprawy jest analiza roli form adresatywnych w kształtowaniu relacji międzyludzkich w wybranych dialogach powieści “Dumy i Uprzedzenia”, jej adaptacji filmowej z 2005 roku i ich polskich tłumaczeniach, aby ujawnić sposoby, w jakie różne wybory językowe wpływają na dynamikę relacji między bohaterami i ich wzajemnie postrzeganie.Rozdział pierwszy przedstawia zarys życia Jane Austen, omawia fenomen "Dumy i uprzedzenia" oraz estetykę i odbiór filmowej adaptacji z 2005 roku. Przedstawia również realia epoki regencji i nierówności pomiędzy angielskimi klasami społecznymi. Rozdział drugi omawia trzy najpopularniejsze metody tłumaczenia audiowizualnego: dubbing, lektora i napisy, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kryteriów i wymagań technicznych związanych z napisami. Trzeci rozdział zawiera analizę jakościową wybranych dialogów z książki i filmu, które pokazują znaczące interakcje między postaciami odzwierciedlone w użyciu różnych form adresatywnych. W rozdziale tym zostały porównane polskie tłumaczenia literackie i audiowizualne oraz zbadane zostały cechy stylistyczne obu wersji językowych, akcentując istniejące rozbieżności i konwencje obu języków.

Forms of address have long been recognized as powerful tools that shape interpersonal relationships and reflect the dynamics between people. Set in the Regency era of early 19th-century England, “Pride and Prejudice” and its 2005 film adaptation provide an interesting area to explore how forms of address contribute to the portrayal of the characters and social class differences. The aim of this dissertation is to analyse the role of forms of address in shaping interpersonal relationships, focusing on selected dialogues from “Pride and Prejudice”, its 2005 film adaptation and subsequent Polish translations, in order to reveal the ways in which various linguistic choices affect the characters' perceptions of each other and the power dynamics between them.The first chapter presents an overview of Jane Austen's life, it also discusses the phenomenon of “Pride and Prejudice” and the aesthetics and reception of the 2005 film adaptation of the novel. Additionally, it presents the context of the reality in the Regency era and existing discrepancies between social classes. The second chapter examines the three most popular methods of audiovisual translation: dubbing, voiceover and subtitling, with a particular focus on the criteria and technical requirements associated with the latter. The third and final chapter provides a qualitative analysis of selected dialogues which demonstrate significant interactions between the characters reflected in the usage of various forms of address. It compares translations - both literary and audiovisual - and examines the stylistic features of Polish and English versions, demonstrating discrepancies in linguistic conventions and norms of both languages.
