The motif of evil women in the fairy tales of the Grimm brothers

Za główny cel mojej pracy postawiłam sobie zanalizowanie kontrastu między złymi postaciami kobiecymi, które zostały przedstawione w baśniach autorstwa braci Grimm oraz udowodnienie, iż zostały one ukazane jako postacie złe. Praca została podzielona na trzy części: wstęp, część główną oraz zakończenie. Zasadnicza część pracy, tzn. rozdział 3 (3.1- 3.3.) poświęcony został dogłębnej analizie tekstu, ze zwróceniem szczególnej uwagi na problematykę pracy. Pierwszy rozdział jest analityczną częścią, gdzie został scharakteryzowany gatunek baśni oraz baśni folklorystycznej jak i twórczość braci Grimm oraz geneza powstania motywu złych kobiet w baśniach Grimmów. W drugim rozdziale zajmuję się charakterystyką wybranych złych kobiet tzn. przedstawieniem m.in ich zachowania oraz wyglądu, a także ich stosunku do postaci pięknych kobiet. Analiza tekstu umożliwiła wyciągnięcie następujących wniosków: w baśniach ukazana została rywalizacja złych postaci kobiecych z pięknymi a także zmaganie się złych kobiet z ciągłym dążeniem do idealności pod każdym względem, które prowadziło do destrukcji. Bardzo istotną rolę odgrywa zakończenie o charakterze pouczającym. Pokazuje ono bowiem, jak kończyły się losy złych kobiet i z jaką karą musiały się zmagać.

The main purpose of my work was to analyze the contrast between the evil female characters in the fairy tales of the Grimm brothers and to prove that they were evil characters. The work is divided into three parts: the introduction, the main part and the ending. The main part of the work, i. e. Chapter 3 (3. 1-3. 3), is devoted to a thorough analysis of the text, with particular attention to the issue of work. The first chapter is an analytical part, where the species of fairy tales and folklore fairy tales as well as the work of the Grimm brothers and the origins of the motif of evil women in Grimm fairy tales are characterized. In the second chapter I deal with the characteristics of selected bad women, i. e. presenting their behaviour and appearance, as well as their attitude towards beautiful women. The analysis of the text made it possible to draw the following conclusions: the fairy tales show the rivalry between the evil female characters and the beautiful ones, as well as the struggle of the evil women with the constant pursuit of ideals in every respect, which led to destruction. A very important role is played by the educational ending. This is because it shows, how the fate of bad women ended, and with what punishment they must struggle.

Der Hauptzweck meiner Arbeit war es, den Kontrast zwischen den bösen weiblichen Figuren in den Märchen der Gebrüder Grimm zu analysieren und zu beweisen, dass sie böse sind. Das Werk gliedert sich in drei Teile: die Einführung, den Hauptteil und das Ende. Der Hauptteil der Arbeit, d. h. Kapitel 3 (3. 1-3. 3), widmet sich einer gründlichen Analyse des Textes, wobei der Frage der Arbeit besondere Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird. Das erste Kapitel ist ein analytischer Teil, in dem die Arten von Märchen und folkloristischen Märchen sowie die Arbeit der Gebrüder Grimm und die Ursprünge des Motivs der bösen Frauen in Grimm-Märchen charakterisiert werden. Im zweiten Kapitel beschäftige ich mich mit den Eigenschaften ausgewählter schlechter Frauen, d. h. der Darstellung ihres Verhaltens und Erscheinens sowie ihrer Einstellung zu schönen Frauen. Die Analyse des Textes ermöglichte folgende Schlussfolgerungen: Die Märchen zeigen die Rivalität zwischen den bösen weiblichen und den schönen Charakteren sowie den Kampf der bösen Frauen mit der ständigen Suche nach Idealen in jeder Hinsicht, was zur Zerstörung führte. Eine sehr wichtige Rolle spielt das pädagogische Ende. Denn es zeigt, wie das Schicksal böser Frauen endete und mit welcher Strafe sie kämpfen müssen.
