Women's rights and the situation in Afghanistan after the takeover of power by the Taliban in 2021

Niniejsza praca magisterska ma na celu przedstawienie praw kobiet oraz obecną sytuację kobiet w Afganistanie po przejęciu władzy przez talibów w 2021r. Prawa kobiet to bardzo ważny temat, który nie powinien być pomijany. Pomimo ciągłego rozwoju praw i pozycji społecznej kobiet, wciąż istnieją państwa, w których prawa kobiet i dziewcząt są łamane. Jednym z tych państw jest Afganistan, w którym sytuacja kobiet jest obecnie uznawana za najgorszą na świecie. W pracy magisterskiej omówione zostały również organizacje międzynarodowe zajmujące się ochroną praw kobiet. Przedstawione zostały także prawa kobiet przez pryzmat islamu oraz krótka charakterystyka ekstremistycznego ugrupowania talibów, ich dojdzie do władzy oraz obecne działania. Pierwszy rozdział opisuje pojęcie praw człowieka oraz najważniejsze dokumenty ich dotyczące. Opisana została również geneza rozwoju praw kobiet, prawa kobiet w ONZ-owskim systemie ochrony praw człowieka oraz ochrona praw kobiet w programach i agencjach wyspecjalizowanych ONZ. Drugi rozdział pracy został poświęcony opisowi sytuacji kobiet w świecie islamu i porusza takie kwestie jak ubiór kobiet, obrzezanie kobiet, zabójstwa honorowe czy instytucja małżeństwa w islamie. Trzeci rozdział przedstawia głównie obecną sytuację kobiet w Afganistanie. Zostały w nim opisane wszystkie restrykcje i zakazy, z którymi muszą mierzyć się Afganki w życiu codziennym i zawodowym. Scharakteryzowane zostało również ugrupowanie talibów oraz ich droga do władzy. Do napisania pracy wykorzystane akty prawne dotyczące praw kobiet (konwencje, deklaracje), monografie, artykuły naukowe czy publicystyczne, a także raporty tworzone przez organizacje międzynarodowe takie jak Organizacja Narodów Zjednoczonych, czy przez organizacje pozarządowe, na przykład Amnesty International. Wykorzystano też dane i statystyki pochodzące z Banku Światowego.

This thesis aims to present women's rights and the current situation of women in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover in 2021. Women's rights is a crucial issue that should not be ignored. Despite the continuous development of women's rights and social status, there are still countries where the rights of women and girls are violated. One of these countries is Afghanistan, where the situation of women is currently considered the worst in the world. The thesis also deals with international organizations involved in the protection of women's rights. Women's rights through the perspective of Islam are also presented, as well as a brief characterization of the extremist Taliban group, their rise to power and current activities. The first chapter describes the concept of human rights and the most important documents concerning them. The origins of the development of women's rights, women's rights in the UN human rights system and the protection of women's rights in UN programs and specialized agencies are also described. The second chapter of the work is devoted to describing the situation of women in the Islamic world and addresses such issues as women's clothing, female circumcision, honor killings and the institution of marriage in Islam. The third chapter mainly presents the current situation of women in Afghanistan. It describes all the restrictions and prohibitions that Afghan women have to face in their daily and professional lives. The Taliban regime and its path to power are also characterized. For the writing of the work used legal acts on women's rights (conventions, declarations), monographs, scientific or journalistic articles, as well as reports created by international organizations such as the United Nations, or by non-governmental organizations, for example, Amnesty International. Data and statistics from the World Bank were also used.
