Polyamory in history and culture

O wzrastającej ważności tematu poliamorii świadczy coraz większe zainteresowanie, przejawiające się w liczbie poświęconych jej książek, publikacji prasowych, badań socjologicznych, warsztatów i konferencji. W niemniejszym stopniu świadczy o tym jej aktywne przeniknięcie w kulturę popularną w postaci filmów, seriali i książek. Praca ta ma na celu znalezienie śladów poliamorii i przykładów jej obecności w historii i kulturze od starożytności do współczesności. W szczególności analizie poddane zostały współczesne teksty kultury popularnej, a mianowicie serial You Me Her (reż. John Scott Shepherd, 2016) oraz film Sztuka kochania. Historia Michaliny Wisłockiej (reż. Maria Sadowska, 2017). Dokładne przyjrzenie się historii miłości i seksualności pozwoliło znaleźć ślady poliamorii w mitach starożytnej Grecji, w utopiach, ruchach emancypacyjnych i kontrkulturowych. Najlepiej jednak poliamoria została pokazana w kulturze popularnej XXI wieku.

The importance of polyamory is evidenced by the growing interest shown in the number of books, press publications, sociological research, workshops and conferences on this subject. To a greater extent the popularity of polyamory is apparent by its active forcing into popular culture in the form of films, TV shows and books about it. The aim of this thesis is to find marks of polyamory and examples of its presence in history and culture from antiquity to the present. In particular, the contemporary popular culture texts, namely TV show You Me Her (John Scott Shepherd, 2016) and film Sztuka kochania. Historia Michaliny Wisłockiej (Maria Sadowska, 2017) has been analyzed. A careful look at the history of love and sexuality has made it possible to find marks of polyamory in the myths of ancient Greece, in utopias, emancipation and countercultural movements. However, polyamory is best shown in the mass culture of the 21st century.
