The aim of this paper is to present some strategies used in art history, in case of examinations over relationships between art and rhetoric. Only few art historians, such as Henry Maguire, Michael Baxandall, Moshe Barasch and recently Ulrike Heinrichs-Schreiber, appreciated the role of the influence of rhetorical strategies on the visual representations. This phenomenon is specially noticeable in the works of religious art; Bożena Noworyta-Kuklińska examined gothic altarpiece as if it was a medieval sermon. It is very important to show the meaning of the influence of rhetorical model of education on the visual arts since in many cases rhetorical point of view in art history could play an important role in explaining the inherent logic of the composition or correcting an interpretation of "visual texts", as we can certainly call works of medieval or early modern artists.
