W świadomości polskiego widza kino węgierskie wciąż funkcjonuje jako kompilacja stereotypów filmów hermetycznych, nieprzystępnych, ponurych, pesymistycznych w swojej wymowie do tego wzmocnionych barierą językową. Obserwując jednak najnowsze dokonania kinematografii węgierskiej można dostrzec, że wspomniane stereotypy w coraz mniejszym stopniu charakteryzują kino na Węgrzech. Z jednej strony obserwujemy transgresję konwencji, z drugiej strony natomiast powrót do kina gatunków. Jeśli dodamy do tego nowe, uzdrawiające spojrzenie na historię okaże się, że jesteśmy świadkami kina interesującego, potrafiącego o wielu problemach opowiadać w sposób nieschematyczny, przez to ciekawy i pomysłowy. W kontekście liczny nagród, wyróżnień ryzykowna przestaje być teza, że obecnie kino węgierskie przeżywa swoją drugą złotą erę. W tekście tym autor dokonuje przeglądu najważniejszych tendencji i kierunków w kinie węgierskim.

Polish cinema viewers still stereotypically consider Hungarian films as hermetic, inaccessible, gloomy pessimistic int tone, which is further reinforced by the language barrier. Observing, however, the latest achievements of Hungarian cinema, one can note that these stereotypes are becoming less characteristic of Hungarian cinema today. On the one hand, we observe the transgression of the convention, on the other hand, the return to the genre cinema. If we add to this a new healing gaze at the history, we will find that we are looking at a cinema that is engaging, one that can speak about many problems in an unconventional way, and is therefore interesting and inventive. In the context of numerous awards and distinctions it ceases to be a risky proposition that Hungarian cinema is currently experiencing its second golden era.
