Materiały archiwalne w zbiorach bibliotek paryskich jako źródła do badań nad historią polsko-francuskich kontaktów muzycznych w okresie międzywojennym
wariant tytułu:
Archival materials in the collections of Parisian libraries as sources for research on the history of Polish-French musical relationships durign the interwar period
The article contains a general overview of materials archived in the collections of Parisian libraries - the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Bibliothèque Polonaise de Paris, and additionally also in the Institut Memoires de l’edition contemporaine (IMEC) in Ardennes. The materials are linked to the participation of Polish artists in the music life of Paris during the period between the wars. They constitute a source base for research on the history of Polish-French music-related contacts during the period. In terms of the information provided and possibilities of interpretation, the most promising are two archives in BnF - Fonds Montpensier: Pologne and Dossiers Edouard Ganche. On the other hand, in Bibliothèque Polonaise de Paris, the most attractive sources are composers’ preserved legacies, including those of Michał Spisak, Antoni Szałowski, Szymon Laks and Zygmunt Dygat. In IMEC, we find archival materials concerning the activity of Robert Brussel, an eminent critic and music activist, who had a great contribution to popularizing Polish art in France. Put together, those materials are a unique source base on Polish composers and performers in the French capital, and a solid foundation for a profound study of their music activities, the reception of their work, and their significance in this cosmopolitan environment.
