Problem migracji i emigracji ludności arabskiej, głównie do krajów Europy Zachodniej oraz Ameryki Północnej nie jest zjawiskiem nowym i na przestrzeni minionych dekad z różną intensywnością dotykał poszczególne kraje Bliskiego Wschodu. Jednakże w ostatnich latach, ze względu na sytuację polityczno-ekonomiczną wspomnianego regionu, kwestia intensywnych ruchów migracyjnych jego mieszkańców stała się tematem szczególnie ważnym. Teatr arabski będący wyrazicielem doświadczeń tak jednostkowych jak i wspólnotowych zróżnicowanej społeczności arabskiej w sposób wyraźny włączył się w otwartą debatę na temat emigracji. Głosy artystów z Libanu, Sudanu, Egiptu, Tunezji czy Maroka tworzą koherentny komunikat teatralny, dla którego punktem wyjścia jest współczesna rzeczywistość świata arabskiego.

The problem of migration and emigration of the Arab population, mainly to Western Europe and North America is not a new phenomenon, and over the past decades with varying intensity touched various countries of the Middle East. However, in recent years, due to the politico-economic situation of that region, a matter of intense migratory movements of its inhabitants has become a topic of particular importance. Arab theatre expressing individual and common experience of the heterogenous Arab community clearly joined the open debate on emigration. The voices of artists from Lebanon, Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia or Morocco make up a coherent theatrical message, for which the starting point is the contemporary reality of the Arab world.
