Etnobotanical Database of Poland : the beginnings

Only a few ethnographical databases operate in Poland, and their functionality is limited. There is a need to set up a new database devoted especially to the ethnobotanical data present in well recognized historical ethnographic literature, as well as the outcomes of modern field research. Before setting up the project, broad discussion among future users is needed, and this short text provides a few questions for this exchange. Among others: what type of management system should be implemented, and how complicated should the structure of the database be? A simple scheme for the database is proposed here, built of elements which form the necessary and sufficient conditions of modern ethnobotanical database. The rest is a matter for open debate.
