Obok rozważań dotyczących zjawiska kształtowania opinii społecznej
przez teatr zarówno w ujęciu ogólnym, jak i odnoszącym się bezpośrednio do teatru polskiego na przestrzeni dziejów, nakreślony zostaje obraz współczesnego teatru polskiego, uwypuklający elementy mające wpływ na możliwość podjęcia dialogu z odbiorcą. Tym, co cechuje współczesny polski teatr zaangażowany, jest komunikowanie się z widzem "wprost" (brak cenzury), otwartość dyskursu politycznego, nowe typy bohaterów teatralnych odnoszących się bezpośrednio do polskich realiów oraz specyficzny rodowód artystyczny współczesnych dramaturgów. Na podstawie analizy zebranych materiałów (książkowych, prasowych, archiwalnych), wywiadów z twórcami i teoretykami teatralnymi oraz własnej obserwacji, autorka wnioskuje o pozytywnym charakterze zachodzących zmian. Wskazuje również na problemy, z jakimi boryka się nurt teatru zaangażowanego w Polsce i potrzebę otoczenia go szczególną opieką ze strony orga- nizacji odpowiedzialnych za kształt polskiego życia kulturalnego.

The article covers the topic of theatrical performances influenced by the socially-involved current - a phenomenon that has become more and more common in Polish theatre over the past few years. Apart from the obvious aim to point the audience’s attention to the matters of vital importance for the society and the country, the socially-involved theatre endeavours to renew a true and honest dialogue with a Polish viewer. Apart from a discourse concerning the idea of influencing the public’s point of view through the theatre nowadays and in the past, the article sketches the picture of contemporary Polish theatre. The author emphasizes the ele-ments which may impact the possibility of initiating a dialogue with the audience. It is to be observed that common factors and characteristics determining contemporary involved theatre in Poland are: "traight-forward" (noncensored) communication with the viewer, the openness of political discourse, new types of main characters related to the most recent Polish reality, as well as the very specific artistic backgro und of the contemporary dramatists. Judging from the analysis of the gathered evidence (books, press articles, archive’s documents), interviews with both the artists and the theoreticians, and also basing on one’s own experiences and observations, the author of the article came to rather positive conclusions about the changes which are taking place in the socially-involved theatre in Poland. However, she also indicates some problems faced by the theatre.
