The author discusses experiences connected with making available the digital form of the Basic Catalogue of Monographs published up to 1949 in the Jagiellonian Library in Cracow. The catalogue was established at the beginning of the 19th century. It comprises ca 1 million of cards bringing information on the books possessed by the Jagiellonian Library: from the oldest ones to these published in 1949. The character and extensiveness of the book collection as well as the structure of the catalogue make the catalogue an invaluable source of bibliographic information. In the years 1998—2003 catalogue cards were scanned and made available to the users worldwide via the website of the Jagiellonian Library. In order to facilitate the searching in the catalogue two new features were developed: index and annotations.
