The purpose of this article is to present current theoretical and empirical achievements of the relational capital with an indication of current research challenges in this area. For realization of such a construction method was applied to a systematic review of the literature. The study included articles appearing in English-language full-text databases EBSCO, Scopus, Proquest, Web of Science, Elsevier, Emerald in the years 1998-2014. State of knowledge of relational capital is quite modest, and the previous empirical studies are fragmentary and are not free of conceptual and methodological limitations. Results of the review indicate that relational capital is one of areas of inquiry requires exploration.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie dotychczasowego dorobku teoretycznego oraz empirycznego nad kapitałem relacyjnym ze wskazaniem aktualnych wyzwań badawczych w tym obszarze. Dla realizacji tak skonstruowanego celu wykorzystano metodę systematycznego przeglądu literatury. Badaniem objęto artykuły ukazujące się w anglojęzycznych bazach pełnotekstowych EBSCO, Scopus, Proquest, Web of Science, Elsevier, Emerald w latach 1998-2014. Stan wiedzy dotyczący kapitału relacyjnego jest dość skromny, a dotychczasowe badania empiryczne są fragmentaryczne i nie są wolne od ograniczeń koncepcyjno-metodycznych. Wyniki przeglądu wskazują, że kapitał relacyjny to jeden z obszarów dociekań, który wymaga eksploracji.
