Tematem niniejszej pracy jest tłumaczenie kalamburów z języka angielskiego na polski. Analiza opiera się na trzecim i czwartym sezonie amerykańskiego serialu komediowego “The Big Bang Theory” i jego polskiej wersji językowej. Rodzajem tłumaczenia wykorzystanym w serialu jest lektor. Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza technik tłumaczeniowych stosowanych w tłumaczeniu kalamburów w serialu.Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia problem zdefiniowania pojęcia kalambur oraz wyjaśnia mechanizmy kalamburu na podstawie różnych teorii językowych, takich jak Ogólna teoria humoru werbalnego, Teoria relewancji i Teoria amalgamatów pojęciowych. Ponadto, w pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiono ogólny zarys klasyfikacji kalamburów.Drugi rozdział zawiera krótki przegląd różnych typów tłumaczenia audiowizualnego, takich jak dubbing, napisy i lektor, przedstawia ich wspólne oraz wyróżniające cechy. Największą uwagę poświęcono lektorowi, ponieważ to właśnie ten typ tłumaczenia wykorzystano polskiej wersji analizowanego serialu.W trzecim rozdziale przedstawiono analizę statystyczną technik translatorskich zastosowanych w tłumaczeniu kalamburów w serialu “The Big Bang Theory”, jak również analizę porównawczą przesunięć w przekładzie tych kalamburów według klasyfikacji przesunięć Delabastity (1993) i Dynel (2010). Każda z poszczególnych technik przekładu została zilustrowana na przykładach tłumaczenia trzeciego i czwartego sezonów serialu “The Big Bang Theory”. Dodatkowo omówiono pokrótce wpływ lektora jako typu tłumaczenia audiowizualnego na wynik tłumaczenia kalamburów w serialu.

The subject of the this thesis is the translation of puns from English into Polish, and the analysis will be based on the third and fourth seasons of the American sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” and its Polish voiced-over version provided by Netflix. The aim of the study is to provide an analysis of the puns translation techniques applied in the translation of the sitcom puns and to analyze the result of this translation.The first chapter of this thesis addresses the problem of defining a pun and provides an explanation of its mechanisms through the prism of different linguistic theories, such as General theory of verbal humor, Relevance theory and Conceptual blending theory. In addition, a general outline of the taxonomy of puns is be presented. The second chapter provides a brief overview of various audiovisual translation types, such as dubbing, subtitling and voice-over, including their common and distinctive feature with the special emphasis will on voice-over as the type of AVT used in the research material of this study. The third chapter presents the statistical analysis of the translation techniques used in the translation of sitcom puns based on Delabastita’s (1993) classification, as well as the comparative analysis of translation shifts according to the classifications of Delabastita (1993) and Dynel (2010). Each translation technique is discussed on cases from the translation of the third and fourth seasons of “The Big Bang Theory”. The impact of the voice-over on the translation of puns is discussed together with the conclusions drawn.
