Głównym celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest zbadanie procesu przekładu dwóch grup tłumaczy różniących się doświadczeniem w wykonywaniu tego zawodu oraz kompetencjami tłumaczeniowymi – początkujących tłumaczy, którzy reprezentują wysoki poziom znajomości języka obcego, oraz studentów przekładoznawstwa, czyli osób nabywających kompetencji tłumaczeniowych w toku studiów. Praca magisterska składa się z dwóch części: teoretycznej i empirycznej. Rozdział Pierwszy zawiera przegląd profesjonalnej literatury na temat procesu przekładu, jego definicję oraz omówienie teorii procesu przekładu z kilku perspektyw: psychologicznej, kognitywnej, proceduralnej oraz lingwistycznej. Rozdział Drugi stanowi omówienie trzech grup tłumaczy – początkujących tłumaczy, studentów przekładoznawstwa oraz profesjonalnych tłumaczy – różniących się między sobą doświadczeniem, umiejętnościami językowymi oraz kompetencjami tłumaczeniowymi. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na proces nabywania kompetencji tłumaczeniowych. Rozdział Trzeci, stanowiący część empiryczną niniejszej pracy magisterskiej, omawia badanie procesu przekładu wykonane przez autora pracy. Część empiryczna zawiera informacje na temat celów i pytań badawczych, opisu badania i jego uczestników, a także omawia uzyskane wyniki i przedstawia wnioski.

The main aim of the present MA dissertation is the examination of the translation process as performed by two groups of translators distinguished by experience in translation and translation competence – novice translators, who represent a high foreign language proficiency level, and translation students, who are already receiving translation training. The MA thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and empirical.Chapter One provides an overview of the expert literature on the translation process, a definition of the translation process and the presentation of the theory of the translation process from several perspectives: psychological, cognitive, procedural and linguistic. In Chapter Two three groups of translators, as distinguished by their experience, linguistic knowledge and translation competencies – novice translators, translation students and professional translators – are characterised. Particular attention is paid especially to the process of acquiring translation competence. Chapter Three, which is the empirical part of the present MA dissertation, presents the research on the translation process. The empirical part provides information on the research aims and questions, research design, sampling, and contains a discussion of the results and conclusions.
