Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest problematyce literatury dziecięcej oraz roli, jaką odgrywają w niej dorośli. Omówiona zostaje koncepcja podwójnego odbiorcy i jej obecność w książkach obrazkowych. Następnie, uwaga skupia się na narracji pierwszoosobowej, humorze i ironii w przekładzie literatury dziecięcej oraz na ich znaczeniu dla podwójnego odbiorcy. Co więcej, rozpatrzona zostaje kwestia wykluczenia elementów tekstu, które są uznawane za niewłaściwe dla dziecięcego odbiorcy. Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest książka „Timmy Failure. Mistakes Were Made” Stephana Pastisa, ukazująca historię jedenastoletniego chłopca, który uważa się za dyrektora generalnego detektywistycznego imperium. Analizie poddane zostają strategie wdrażane przez tłumacza oraz ich wpływ na polską wersję książki. Zmiany w przekładzie służą celom edukacyjnym i mają wpływ na aspekt humorystyczny książki. W rezultacie, badanie wskazuje na utratę podwójnego odbiorcy w polskim tłumaczeniu „Timmy Failure. Mistakes Were Made”.

This thesis examines children’s literature and the role of adults in this realm. The study explores the concept of dual address and its existence in picturebooks. Subsequently, it focuses predominantly on first-person narrative, humour and irony in the translation of children’s literature and their significance for dual address. Moreover, it investigates the eradication of the elements regarded as inappropriate for young audience. The subject of this case study is "Timmy Failure. Mistakes Were Made" by Stephan Pastis, a book about an 11-year-old boy who considers himself the CEO of an investigative empire. My dissertation addresses the question of how the strategies implemented by the translator affected the Polish translation. The modifications introduced by the translator serve educational purposes and influence humorous aspects of the book. As a result, dual address is lost in the Polish rendition of "Timmy Failure. Mistakes Were Made".
