Analizując takie tytuły jak m. in. |

The aim of this thesis is to analyze independent video games in terms of the concept of "emersion" created by Piotr Kubiński, with the use of additional ludological and cultural studies contexts. Analyzing such titles as, among others "The Stanley Parable", "Doki Doki Literature Club", "Pony Island", "Undertale" my goal was to isolate and group some common features that allow players to break out of immersion and see the mediated nature of the video game experience. The analysis has been narrowed down to the concept of independent games based on the definition of Maria Garda and Paweł Grabarczyk since this concept is related not only to the economic aspect of video games but also to the artistic one. Due to the production aspects and the social context related to these concepts, some independent games take the risk of using various emersive techniques. As part of individual chapters, I will present the division into emersive techniques that I created:1) interface techniques - related to the concept of remediation, the visibility of computer hardware and software, the role of glitches and the use of the user interface as a diegetic element,2) storytelling techniques - embedded in the context of emersive space and time, breaking the fourth wall and telling stories through relationships with emersive characters,3) mechanics techniques - based on modifications of meta-elements, the concept of procedural rhetoric and its connection with the player's being idle. |
