The article presents an outline of the history as well as the present-day structure and functioning of the Hacettepe University in Ankara, with particular emphasis on the complex of its libraries. The article describes the division of the university libraries, the organization of their work, the criteria of making various types of works accessible to the readers as well as the principles of cataloging the collection, with special attention being paid to the subject catalog.
