The purpose of the present dissertation is proving that Japanese motifs can be seen in the Star Trek series. To attest that all Star Trek series (excluding Star Trek: The Animated Series) and Star Trek movies had been analyzed. The primary questions guiding the considerations here relates to the presentation of Japanese motifs: are alien race Klingons actually similar to the Japanese people, are there clearly Japanese characters in the series, can cultural, social and historical references to Japan be seen as well as what significance do some of the characters have for the Asian community, especially Japanese Americans? In addition, this discourse unmasks the references to anime, which the employees involved in the production of the series were. All considerations were embedded in the framework of comparative analysis, i.e. Japanese-sounding and looking objects and people appearing in the Star Trek series were compared to their real counterparts.
