The role of evaluation in the study of the effectiveness of the Disabled Person Assistant

Podstawowym zadaniem asystenta osoby niepełnosprawnej jest wspomaganie w procesie usamodzielniania się jednostki poprzez wyposażenie jej w kluczowe kompetencje społeczne, wiedzę, umiejętności, dzięki którym mogłaby ona uczestniczyć w życiu społecznym. Proces wzmacniania klienta we wszystkich obszarach jego aktywności przypomina realizowaną w przez pracowników socjalnych (w obszarze pracy socjalnej) zasadę empowerment, która kładzie nacisk m.in na relację pomiędzy uczestnikami procesu pomocy, nazywając ich partnerami oraz wskazuje na klienta jako tego, który doświadcza problemu i podejmuje decyzję o swoim życiu. Czy asystent ON sprosta takiemu wyzwaniu i będzie wykonywał swój zawód zgodnie z zasadą samostanowienia klienta? Czy będzie wystarczająco kompetentny i skuteczny w procesie usamodzielniania swoich „podopiecznych”? Trudno na te pytania dzisiaj odpowiedzieć – można natomiast zastanowić się w jakim stopniu ewaluacja może przyczynić się do zwiększenia skuteczności działań AON.

The main task of the disabled person assistant (DPA) is to support the individual in the process of empowerment by providing a key social competence, knowledge, skills, through which he/she could participate in social life. The process of strengthening the client in all areas of its activity resembles implemented in by social workers (in the field of social work) the principle of empowerment, which emphasizes, among others, the relationship between the participants in the process help, calling their partners, and points to the client as the one who is experiencing the problem and decide on their lives. Can the DPA meet this challenge and perform their profession in accordance with the principle of self-determination of the client? Will there be enough knowledgeable and efficient in the process of becoming independent of their "charges"? It is difficult to answer these questions today - you can instead consider the extent to which evaluation can help to increase the effectiveness of the DPA.
