AbstractThe care of the midwife involves a women of any age. Patients in the senium and menopausalperiod have a lot of nursing and obstetric problems. Often they are burdened withcomorbidities which may pose challenges in the treatment of the underlying disease. Caringfor such patients require knowledge beyond the scope of obstetrics and gynecology.AimThe aim of the study is to formulate obstetric and nursering diagnoses and develop a plan forobsteric nursering care and its implementation.Materials and MethodsThe analysis was based on the patient of gynecology department with class III obesityscheduled for elective surgery and diagnosed with the cancer of the vulva. The method of theindividual case was used in order to gain detailed knowledge of the subject and take directactions to meet the needs of the bio - psycho-social patient. Nursing process required bothpreparation for surgery and post-operative care.ResultsDuring the care many nursing and obstetric problems were recognized. Among them the mostcrucial problems were: stress caused by hospitalization, anxiety before surgery, postoperativewound pain, the possibility of the general condition disorder as well as gynecological andmental impairments.ConclusionsThe general condition of the patient is satisfactory with multiple comorbidities. The mainaims of the care are: adequate preparation for the treatment, reduction of the perioperativecomplications risks, prevention and early detection of postoperative complications. Careshould include both nursing care and education.
