Social and housing conditions as a factor affecting the health of the population in the Second Polish Republic

W artykule dokonano analizy warunków społeczno-mieszkaniowych ludności w II Rzeczpospolitej, które w szczególny sposób wpływały na zdrowotność mieszkańców. Na podstawie zaproponowanej typologii wyznaczono obszary o różnej sytuacji socjalno-bytowej. Najbardziej korzystne warunki dla zdrowia ludności wykazano w powiatach w zachodniej części Polski oraz w dużych miastach. Najtrudniejsze warunki stwierdzono na wschodzie kraju, głównie w województwie wileńskim, nowogródzkim i poleskim.

This article analyses the social and housing conditions in the Second Polish Republic, which had a particular influence on the health of inhabitants. On the basis of the proposed classification types, different social background and living conditions areas were designated. The most favourable conditions affecting the health of people were found in the western counties of Poland and in large cities. The most difficult conditions were found in the east part of the country, mainly in the provinces of Wilno, Nowogrodek and Polesie.
