As India knocks on the doors of its 69th year of Independence from colonial rule and Poland celebrates 25 years from the shackles of communism and toasts 10 years of EU membership, both the countries have come a long way to shed their baggage of the pas and put in motion their grand plans toward development. Thanks to the EU, Poland has undergone massive structural changes and embarked upon projects coupled with EU finds, which puts the erstwhile communist nation in the forefront of the hub of developing countries in Europe. The Polish politicians take pride in accepting the fact that their country wasn’t much affected by the Euro crisis. India on the other hand, has been spearheading development campaign since opening its economy to the world in 1991 but the road hasn’t been easy thanks to her vast landscape and the ever growing population. Pundits all over the world peg Indian to be the next big economy and if estimates are to be believed, it should overtake both USA and Chine in the next 50 years in terms of economy and infrastructure. The thesis that the author is presenting delves deep onto the historical and contemporary relationship between Poland and India in terms of culture and economy. It explores the Polish outlook towards India and how they view it. By drawing comparisons of both the countries’ past, the thesis examines the current scenario in which India is slowly but steadily becoming more visible in Poland. India has been successfully able to export its culture and traits into the Polish lifestyle but the vice versa does not hold any weight. The presence of Indian companies, bilateral trade and a growing Indian diaspora are the major factors of this rise, but there are a number of other factors towards this positive outlook that the author examines in the thesis. Poles view India as somewhat exotic and the thesis will not only about the cultural and trade dialogue between the two nations but also present ideas as to what can be done more to strengthen the warm relationship between India and Poland.
