Głównym celem pracy było scharakteryzowanie otwartych funduszy emerytalnych w opinii konsumentów. Praca ukazała preferencję konsumentów względem OFE, ich wiedzę na temat funduszy, a także ocenę obecnego systemu emerytalnego. Aby poznać preferencje osób biorących udział w badaniu oraz zbadać ich poziom wiedzy w omawianej dziedzinie wykorzystano ankietę przeprowadzoną wśród konsumentów. Badaniem ankietowym objęto 60 jednostek. Pytania odnosiły się do danych osobowych ankietowanych, ich preferencji wobec OFE oraz stosunku do systemu emerytalnego. Dokonane badania wykazały między innymi, że największy wpływ na wybór danego otwartego funduszu emerytalnego ma opinia najbliższych. Badania pokazały również, że najwięcej osób należy do: Aviva, ING oraz PZU. Okazało się również, że wiedza respondentów na temat OFE oscyluje na niskim poziomie. Podczas tworzenia teoretycznej części niniejsze pracy posłużono się pozycjami z literatury przedmiotu, aktami prawnymi, a także artykułami branżowymi.
