Antropologia teatru zajmuje się badaniem zachowania aktora w sytuacji przedstawienia. Twórcą dziedziny jest reżyser Eugenio Barba, znany w Polsce przede wszystkim ze współpracy z Jerzym Grotowskim. Jest także założycielem i liderem grupy Odin Teatret oraz Ogólnoskandynawskiego Teatru Laboratorium Sztuki Aktorskiej. Siedziba teatru i ośrodka badawczego zarazem mieści się w Holstebro, w Danii, jednak pochodzenie członków i działalność mają charakter wielokulturowy.Praca przedstawia historię powstania danego teatru oraz opisuje główne, cechujące go i podtrzymywane od lat wytyczne: nieustanne treningi aktorskie, bartery, praca w przestrzeni publicznej, okresowa produkcja przedstawień oraz utrwalanie i przekazywanie wypracowanej tradycji młodszym pokoleniom. Odin Teatret wykorzystuje badania nad sztuką aktorską na scenie, płynnie poruszając się między teorią antropologii teatru a praktyką.Główne źródło informacji stanowiły obserwacje podczas trzymiesięcznych praktyk programu Erasmus w ośrodku (kwiecień-czerwiec 2014). Terminowanie zbiegło się z obchodami 50. rocznicy teatru oraz 9. Festuge – międzynarodowym festiwalem organizowanym co cztery lata w Holstebro. Wielokrotnie przywołane zostały także wypowiedzi samych twórców pochodzące z ich zawodowych autobiografii lub zapisów ich występów podczas spotkań naukowych.

Theatre Anthropology is the study of actors behaviour in the performance situation. The creator of the field is director Eugenio Barba, known in Poland mainly from the cooperation with Jerzy Grotowski. He is also the founder and leader of the group Odin Teatret and Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium. The theatre and the research centre are located in Holstebro, Denmark, but the origin of the members and activities are multicultural.The thesis presents the history of founding the theatre and describes the main guidelines, features maintained for years: continual training of acting, barters, work in the public space, the periodic production of performances, preserving and transmitting worked out tradition to younger generations. Odin Teatret uses on stage knowledge from research on the art of acting, seamlessly moving between theory of theatre anthropology and practice.The main source of information were observations during the three-month Erasmus Placement in the research centre (April-June 2014). The apprenticeship coincided with the 50th anniversary of the theatre and 9. Festuge - an international festival organized every four years in Holstebro. Frequently were also cited views of the creators from their professional autobiographies or notations of their lectures at scientific meetings.
