Niniejsza praca zajmuje się zagadnieniem przekładu baśni z uwzględnieniem ekwiwalencji na poziomie obrazowania oraz metod analizy językoznawstwa kognitywnego. Pierwszy rozdział zawiera opis podstawowych pojęć językoznawstwa kognitywnego, kładąc nacisk na ikoniczność, metafory pojęciowe oraz szeroko pojęte obrazowanie. Kolejny rozdział przedstawia zarys gatunku baśni, uwzględniając jego atmosferę, podwójnego czytelnika oraz podejścia do tłumaczenia baśni w Translation Studies. Następnie przedstawiono analizę zbioru „Winter Tales” Michaela D. O’Briena oraz jego przekładu na język polski, gdzie wykazano uniwersalność wielu metafor pojęciowych, przedstawiono różne rodzaje obrazowania wraz z propozycjami przekładu oraz wskazano na relewancję ikoniczności i punktu widzenia.

In the present thesis we are investigating translation of fairy-tales based on equivalence at the level of imagery, using methods of analysis of cognitive linguistics. To that end, in the first place, we present basic notions from cognitive linguistics, emphasizing iconicity, conceptual metaphors and broadly understood imagery. The following chapter centers on the genre of fairy-tales, its nature and atmosphere, comments on the double-readership and approaches to fairy-tales within Translation Studies. Subsequently, we analyze Michael D. O’Brien’s "Winter Tales" and its translation to Polish, where we demonstrate the universal nature of numerous conceptual metaphors, we show different kinds of imagery with its possible translations, as well as prove the relevance of iconicity and vantage point.
