Początek lat sześćdziesiątych XVI wieku wyznaczył nowy okres w dziejach wewnętrznych polskiej reformacji, ponieważ 8 stycznia 1560 roku zmarł Jan Łaski. Był on przez trzy wcześniejsze lata nieformalnym przywódcą reformacji w Małopolsce, którą próbował ująć w ścisłe ramy ustrojowo-organizacyjne oraz dogmatyczne. Zmarły reformator podejmował się też działań, które miały zjednoczyć wszystkie ośrodki protestanckie z Polski i Litwy w ogólnopolski kościół reformacyjny. Jednak w tym krótkim czasie nie zrealizował żadnej z tych aspiracji, dlatego też małopolscy różnowiercy w 1560 roku dalej realizowali plany zmarłego. W tym celu zorganizowali oni we wrześniu 1560 roku synod generalny w Książu Wielkim, na którym obecni byli także przedstawiciele innych ośrodków reformacyjnych. Jego obrady przeważnie dotyczyły, w mniejszym lub większym stopniu, któregoś z trzech wymienionych aspiracji Łaskiego.Niniejsza praca stanowiła próbę opisu i oceny działań podjętych na tym synodzie w celu zrealizowania któregoś z zamiarów zmarłego reformatora.Pierwszy rozdział przedstawił i ocenił znaczenie synodu ksiąskiego dla formowania się organizacji i ustroju małopolskiej różnowierczej struktury kościelnej. Drugi rozdział opisał stosunki między protestantami a przedstawicielami innych ośrodków protestanckich z Polski i Litwy. Na tej podstawie oceniona została pozycja Małopolski w państwach Zygmunta Augusta.Trzeci rozdział przedstawił prowadzoną na synodzie konfrontację z poglądami dogmatycznymi Stankara, których przezwyciężenie było niezbędnym warunkiem do osiągnięcia jedności dogmatycznej wśród małopolskich protestantów, oraz ocenia jej skuteczność.Podsumowanie pracy było pełną oceną działań podjętych na synodzie ksiąskim w celu zrealizowania planów Łaskiego oraz próbuje scharakteryzować małopolską reformację na przełomie szóstej i siódmej dekady XVI wieku.Praca powstała głównie w oparciu o dwie sporządzone na synodzie ksiąskim relacje. Autorem pierwszej z nich był Jakub Sylwiusz, natomiast druga została sporządzona przez Jana Lorenca i Jana Rokitę. Dla opisania uwarunkowań synodu ksiąskiego użyte w pracy zostały monografie i artykuły, które poświęcone są różnym aspektom reformacji w Polsce.

The beginning of the sixth decade of the 16th century appointed the new period in history of the Reformation in Poland. On 8th January 1560 died Jan Łaski. He had been, for three previous years, informal leader of the Reformation in Lesser Poland and he tried to shape it the constitutional-organizational and dogmatic structure. The late reformer also undertook actions that were supposed to merge all the Protestant centres from the Poland and Lithuania in one nationwide Refomed Church. However, in this short time he had not been able to carry out any of those thoughts, so the Protestants from Lesser Poland continued to pursue Łaski’s plans in 1560. To its end, they organized in September 1560 a general synod in Książ Wielki, where were present the representatives of the other centres of the Reformation from Poland and Lithuania as well. In its debates the vast majority of the raised points were connected , more or less, with one of the Łaski"s three aspirations. This dissertation presents the process of description and evaluation of the actions undertaken during that Synod in order to achieve all of intentions of the deceased reformer. The first chapter presents and evaluates the significance of the Synod in Książ Wielki for the development of the organization and system of Protestant Church Structure from Lesser Poland. The second chapter describes the relations between the Protestants from Lesser Poland and representatives of the other Protestant centres of Polish and Lithuanian. On this basis, the position of the Lesser Poland is estimated in the reformation of the states, which were ruled by Sigismund Augustus. The third chapter presents a confrontation with Stancaro's dogmatics, what was an essential condition to achieve the unity of dogmas among the Protestants from Lesser Poland, and attempts to assess its effectiveness. The summary of the work is a complete evaluation of the actions undertaken during the Synod in Książ in order to achieve the Łaski's plans and tries to describe the situation of Reformation in Lesser Poland from the turn of the sixth and seventh decades of the 16th century. The work was mainly based on two relations from the Synod in Książ. The author of the former was Jakub Sylvius, while the latter was written by Jan Lorenc and Jan Rokita. To describe the circumstances of the Synod in Książ Wielki have been additionally used monographs and articles that are devoted to different aspects of the Reformation in Poland
