The subject of the work refers to the problems associated with possible meanings and readings of content generated by selected examples from popular culture. A popular material which has been analyzed in this work is a program "Making Over Poland with Trinny and Susannah" ( all season ) and the dialed numbers of fashion magazine " Elle " from the years 2014-2015. Summon the work of two types of popular material ( and as such I recognize the program and magazine because of the content contained within the hegemonic and therefore possible resistance against them customers), distributed by two types of media ( TV and feminine newspapers), is not intended to analyze comparison of selected examples, but rather to show some meaning, quality and category according to which we can analyze the material described in context of deliberations on popular culture and its possible readings of the consumers. The aim of the work is not to describe the images of women promoted by these media, but to reflect on the socio-cultural functions, which can meet the popular television program and magazine for women. One of the important topics of this work is to establish a possible method of accounting for popular culture in the context of feminism. I'm trying to prove that accusing the popular culture of sexism and objectification of women is not the best way to reflection, because at it's core lie the wrong assumption about too excessive intellectual demands of women and their passivity receiving . Instead of exposing a sexist nature of popular culture , I decided to focus on a much more complex relationship of popular culture and feminism and explained how of the early demands of the women's movement had been taken over by pop culture and considered to be absolutely legitimate and "natural".The work try to prove the thesis that thanks to incorporate from feminism to pop culture part of the women content we can talk about common sense and functional version of feminism, adapted to the needs and everyday women lifes and a kind of emancipatory dimension of the program "Trinny and Susannah" and the magazine " ELLE ". |
